I am also diabetic and it is very hard. I can eat exactly what I should and my numbers will be sky high. Seems there's no rhyme or reason to it. I was also the super skinny person growing up. People would tell me I was anorexic. They obviously had no clue what anorexia is. So I totally get where you're voting from. I am in Ohio. You give me hope that I can eventually make it to the mountains to stay!
Hi, Sherri! Yes, it's so deflating when you think you're eating the right things but the numbers don't reflect it. People can be mean, and I don't think they realize the harm they're inflicting, especially growing up. Good luck to you and thanks for reading! Don't give up!
Thank you for sharing not only your love of Gatlinburg but your vulnerability. Strange as it sounds reading your essays makes you seem like an old friend. I’m glad you have found more bright spots.
Aww, thanks! It was tough to put this out to everyone, but I wanted to put a face to life's challenges. We need reminders that we're not alone. Thank you for your constant kindness and support!
I too am a Buckeye diabetic that loves Gatlinburg. I hate the advice given by those who don’t live with the disease. It’s funny how a few days in Gatlinburg settles my blood sugar due to decreased stress. I’m with you in the journey friend!
Thanks, Rick! It is so annoying, but I'm in a good position now surrounded by people who seem to be sensitive to it. Some have loved ones with it, so they understand. Gatlinburg is great for lowering stress, for sure! Always nice to hear from fellow Ohioans. I may live in Tennessee now, but my roots are always planted in the Buckeye state. I appreciate your thoughts and thanks for the read!
