Crowds depend on when you go. Most times, with the exception of July, weekdays are considerably slower. I've always felt safe in Gatlinburg. Most are petty crimes. Any place that brings tourism is going to skew the numbers based on the actual population. There's something for everyone here, but it's also not necessarily everyone's cup of tea. If you haven't already, read more of my posts to get a feel for the area, but of course, a visit would be the best option. Thanks, and feel free to ask me anything else if you have questions!

I live here. Crime is not an issue, but the crowds can make it less enjoyable. Traffic is horrible, and if you travel on the main roads, you are guaranteed to sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic for hours. However, that being said, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville are actually quite peaceful. Crime is very rare here, and if there is crime, it’s usually tourist-involved. The locals are the nicest people you could ever meet. I would suggest learning the backroads though, not just because of the heavy traffic, but because you see amazing things off the beaten path you usually don’t even hear about in tourist forums.

Yes, we are preparing for just that. We have one more vehicle to sell to get down to a lone vehicle. We already know a few back roads, and we plan to use them quite often for grocery shopping. Two out of the 3 of us have jobs lined up which won't require driving so that'll also reduce our stress. I definitely agree about crime. We've never not felt safe in our many visits. The research has been extensive, and we're comfortable and very excited about moving here. Thanks for reading and commenting! I appreciate your perspective!
