Watching a Sunrise Being Offered at the Gatlinburg Skylift
The Gatlinburg Skylift Park is now offering sunrise visits to their popular attraction starting next week. You’ll need to get your tickets by Monday, two days prior to the Wednesdays they are letting people see the beauty of a Smoky Mountain sunrise. The Wednesdays run through the final week of October, and the price of admission includes a breakfast, coffee mug, and unlimited visits for the rest of the day.
Ticket Prices
Adults: $60
Children: $42
Seniors: $51
They also asks guests to arrive and hour prior to sunrise, and the exact times of the sunrise events on Wednesdays, plus a few more details are provided in the link here.
My thoughts on this are mixed, but mostly skeptical. I think many people will balk at the price. Visitors who are passionate about seeing a beautiful Smoky Mountain sunrise are those who will drive into the Park and go up to Clingmans Dome. The most stunning photos I’ve seen in the Smokies have been here, and they normally bring the hardcore folks and a handful of photographers daily. I’ve roamed the Parkway between 6 and 7 in the morning, and there are few signs of tourist life at all. Asking them to pay a steep price and get up early seems like a tall task. However, I’m sure it’s a spectacular sight, and some will bite at the opportunity.
