The summer heat is (and has been) in full swing here in Gatlinburg, and I can think of no better way to beat it than by stepping indoors, attending the July Craftsmen’s Fair (July 12-21) at the Convention Center downtown. Voted one of the South’s most popular events by the Southeast Tourism Society, this is a show of creativity and pride I can certainly appreciate. For 49 years, the fair will once again be opening with over 180 booths, featuring the most talented craftspeople from all over the United States. Here is what you’ll find at the 2024 edition.
When I say “all over the United States,” I’m also referring to a handful of local artisans from right here in East Tennessee. You’ll find a broad spectrum of items for your home, apartment, garden, porch, or pantry. These keepsakes are one-of-a-kind, not found in your standard brick and mortar department store. Many are the creative workings of the craftspeople, so you know what you’re getting is someone’s love, dream, and passion. Here are just a few of the extraordinary products that’ll be available at the July Craftsmen’s Fair in Gatlinburg:
Homemade Jams & Jellies
Handcrafted Jewelry
Unique Pottery
Master Wood Carvers
If you want to reel in the kids, there is also a Kids Corner where they can do some sand art and painting projects, which the kids are sure to love. I know art shows are usually a guarantee for a few “can we go now,” or “I’m bored,” but this little “corner” can eliminate the complaints. A big thanks goes to the Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries for helping with the supplies needed for the kids’ enjoyment!
But that’s not all! Live bands will fill the auditorium with their music daily from 12-3. The Dennis Lee band, featuring Stephanie Ann and her amazing Strad-A-Fiddle, will entertain from July 12-16. Next up will be Mountain Highway, a band familiar with the Gatlinburg scene, playing July 17-18. They are made up of two sisters, their dad, and a family friend, playing bluegrass and country classics. Last is Misty River, playing July 19-21.

Admission is $10, and that includes the Kids Corner, and the live music performances. Tickets are available at both entrances to the Convention Center, and admission also includes a free Multi-Day Pass with photo ID presented at the office inside after you pay.
If you’ll be in Gatlinburg during this dates, be sure to check out all the items for sale, plus the added entertainment from all these extraordinarily talented artists at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.
