The Return of Sunrise Lifts at Gatlinburg Skylift Park
Some of you may remember my article last fall detailing early morning chairlift rides at Skylift Park in Gatlinburg. Well, they’ve returned. Early risers can rejoice the fact they can see the sun rise above the mountains at a popular attraction in town when most places are closed, and a majority of visitors are still deep asleep…or in that pre-awakened morning fog before the black magic juice fills their favorite mug.
Purchase a ticket for one of these events and you can become a VIP for the whole day. And speaking of coffee, how about a refill, complimentary style, in addition to donuts and live music to get your day started.
Before I tell you more, I stated my doubts about how well-attended the fall ones would be. I don’t have any information on how that went, but apparently it was enough of a success to merit another one in the springtime.
The pictures I’ve seen are stunning. Yes, I am fully biased being an annual pass-holder at Anakeesta (which also has spectacular views seen with my own eyes). No, I have not ever ridden the Skylift, but I do want to…only when it becomes more like a full-blown park experience. Honestly, there needs to be more added, and all signs point to them doing just that. I am looking forward to visiting when those visions are realized.
I will halt my tangent by giving you dates and prices for admission to this rare morning event in Gatlinburg.
April 9 at 7:10 a.m.
April 12 at 7:06 a.m.
April 19 at 6:56 a.m.
April 26 at 6:48 a.m.
May 10 at 6:33 a.m.
VIP tickets are already on sale, so if you’ll be in town on any of these dates and want to go, there’s only a limited amount. Tickets are $59.95 for adults, $43.95 for children, and $50.99 for seniors. Expensive? I’ll let you decide. But again, it’s good for all day access.
