As we speed toward the Christmas and winter season, the City of Gatlinburg has new hours for its Trolley System, beginning November 1. Shorter daylight hours means fewer operating hours, as the new Sunday through Thursday schedule will be from 10:30-6; on Friday and Saturday, the hours will be from 10:30-10.
Personally, when I’m asked about the Gatlinburg Trolley, I refer them to the trolley station located beside the Ripley’s Aquarium, which serves as home base for all of them. So, for my benefit and yours, there are four colored routes that service different areas of Gatlinburg. Here they are below:
Red Route: This one services River Road, a brief portion of Ski Mountain Road, the Parkway from light #10 to #8, the Airport Road area, Park Vista hotel, and the Cherokee Orchard Road area, returning to light #6.
Purple Route: This serves the Gatlinburg Welcome Center, Westgate Resorts, and the Parkway between lights #1 and #5. Basically, it runs most of the main road through the northern part of Gatlinburg.
Blue Route: This one is responsible for the area on 321 (East Parkway from light #3 downtown) between traffic lights 3 and 5 (along East Parkway).
Yellow Route: Operational from Monday through Saturday only because it services the Arts and Crafts Community along Glades and Buckhorn Roads—available from 10:30-6. Most businesses are not open in this area on Sunday.

I’m sure I’ve probably listed this information on my publication already, but it’s good to show it again to help you the visitor, if you don’t want to, or aren’t able to do all the walking that makes Gatlinburg such a great place to be. We want all of our tourists to be happy, and the fact all of these Gatlinburg trolleys are FREE! makes it all the better. Thank you for reading and subscribing to my publication. I hope you continue to stay tuned as I write about all things related to this tourist town that may help you plan your visits here in the Smoky Mountains area!
You are so appreciated. I love reading your blog, such great information and stories.
