Fall is a wonderful time of year in Gatlinburg. The leaves change to a stunning array of colors, and the weather becomes quite a bit more tolerable—at least the mornings do on a consistent basis. While this makes the tourist town an amazingly popular spot for the leaf peepers, it’s also exciting for the second of two major craft fairs at The Convention Center downtown. Here are a few details of the event.
The Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair is being held starting October 5th through the 22nd. It will open daily from 10 until 5 p.m. and cost $10 for access to all vendor booths. Tickets will be available at both entrances (Parkway and Airport Rd.). What’s great is that it’s free for children under 18 as long as they come with the paid adult.
You’ll find plenty of exceptional artwork by many local, regional and country-wide artists. If you’re looking for that perfectly unique seasonal item—especially ahead of the Christmas season—you’ll be pleased to peruse the offerings here. While you’re at it, I’m sure you can accomplish some shopping for the season as well. No last minute Christmas shopping will alleviate the anxiety this time of year—at least a little.
As a bonus, some well-known Country, Bluegrass, and Gospel performers will enumerate the atmosphere of the event. Kicking off the festivities will be the popular style-fuzings of Monroeville. From October 8th to the 15th will feature The Dennis Lee Band; October 16th to the 18th will spotlight the Grammy-nominated Po’ Ramblin’ Boys; and to finish the event will be Misty River.
Celebrating their 48th Anniversary, the Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair is a must for visitors during this two week display. The searchable list of all the vendors is listed here. It has been voted one of the Southeast’s “Most Popular Events,” filling more than 150,000 square feet of space with over 200 booths. Get ready to be inspired…to break open the purse and wallet to reward those creative spirits!
