The record-setting Skybridge is the site of a new focal point currently! The Festival of Flags is a patriotic, prideful flying of not only Old Glory, but also of the 50 states that make up this country, plus those of the 5 branches of our military might. The location high above Gatlinburg at the newly built-up Skypark gives this a special memory you’ll want to document.
From May 16 through July 6, you’ll see the flags of all 50 states and the American flag hanging across the Skybridge after a ride on the iconic Skylift to the top of Crockett Mountain. Throughout this period of fervent flag-flying, no fewer than three relevant holidays will be celebrated: Memorial Day, Flag Day, and, of course, Independence Day.
With the Smoky Mountain skyline as your backdrop, it is an absolute must for getting a picture with your home state. Current and veterans of whichever branch they are serving or have served in will have another token of appreciation and gratification to take with them.
The Gatlinburg Skypark is actively encouraging visitors to take pictures with the flags. All you need to do is tag the Skypark in your social media posts and stories, and there’s a good chance the social media team will feature you on their profile.
What’s great is the opportunity to take a ride up to see this spectacular display doesn’t involve special pricing. Regular daily admission is offered, so you don’t have to be worried about paying extra for this extraordinary sight.
Personally, I think this is a super cool and unique chance to see all of these beautiful flags as you’re traversing the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the United States. What can be more prideful, worthwhile, and exhilarating all at the same time! And you don’t have to be super adventurous and adrenaline-fueled to feel this way. I salute the Skypark for putting this together for guests!
