If you’re familiar with the show, Moonshiners, you’ll definitely recognize the names of Mark Ramsey and Eric “Digger” Manes. The two of them have teamed up once again to release another spirit in the Sugarlands lineup. Mark and Digger’s Mountain Legacy Corn Whiskey will hit the shelves on January 26th, and here are a few details of the newest addition to the stellar selections from this distillery.
It’s 120-proof, unaged whiskey that is crafted from a traditional mash bill with corn from these two moonshiners’ Tennessee home. For those of you who have done a tasting here and tried Jim Tom’s Unaged Rye Whiskey, this new one figures to be a touch hotter, yet smoother, and less peppery.
To celebrate the release of the Mountain Legacy Corn Whiskey, Mark and Digger will be in Gatlinburg for a meet and greet at the distillery on Friday, January 26th and Saturday, January 27th from 2-5 in the afternoon. If you’re lucky, you could see them any time you visit; they like to stop by unannounced, as they regularly visit and distill at this location.
This isn’t the first time Sugarlands has teamed up the Tennessee moonshiners. They also have two other great spirits at the distillery: their Rye Apple Moonshine launched in 2015, and Hazelnut Rum, released in 2017. So a new product from them has been long anticipated by fans of Sugarlands Moonshine.
Yes, I am putting this out there, because I am a big fan and supporter of Sugarlands Distilling Co. I enjoy the atmosphere and the bartenders, who do a fantastic job of entertaining guests. While they all have their own shtick that gets repeated, no two tastings are ever the same, since they love playing off the participation of guests. I respect those of you who abhor getting involved with any alcohol in this town. It isn’t for everyone. This is honestly the one distillery in town I give the vast amount of support to, because I love what they do, plain and simple.
