We are now a third of the way through our second year as Gatlinburg residents. We have seen the seasons pass and in this next go-round, we are making predictions and comparisons on business trends and weather/nature patterns. There have certainly been some similarities and a few surprises we’ve seen and experienced, but in this neck of the woods, tourism and climate can make you scratch your head enough to dry your scalp raw on occasion. Our 16th month in Gatlinburg is officially in the books, so here’s a look at how it transpired, according to my standpoint.
As with every November, Gatlinburg ushered it in by promptly taking down all of the fall decorations in favor of lights, light, more lights, snowpeople, large trees, and all things that remind you of the most wonderful time of the year. In my opinion, Gatlinburg never looks better. It’s awesome taking it all in, especially the lights that line the Parkway, the beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, tunnel of lights, and window paintings that wrap you like a warm blanket by the fireplace. You just can’t help but feel excited, even if the holiday season brings some shopping anxiety.
