The pages of the calendar have turned all the way around to the month we arrived in Gatlinburg last year—August. My family talks often about how time flies and how much we can’t believe how long we’ve lived here with every passing month. Now that it’s approaching ONE YEAR, it gives us even more reflection on what we’ve done and what we’re doing now—mostly the same things. I’m going to start by recapping our last month and finish with a flourish of emotions about our life-changing transition and vision for the future.
Man, has it been hot! I know Tennessee summers can be that way from my past research, but the humidity and overall heat has kept us inside more than we’ve wanted to be. What we were expecting late-July and the month of August to be has been the story since about mid-May. Actually, many areas of the country are feeling it, so we’re definitely not on a desert island with it here. Not even Ohio (my home state) has been immune, from what I’ve heard. Starting the day early has been the key to beating the mid-day sweat fests; however, that can’t always be done with our fluid schedules.
