The Ole Smoky Moonshine Holler is home to many recurring bands and musicians. Recently, they announced their summer lineup of performers that will be sure to entertain tens of thousands of guests amidst the sweltering heat of East Tennessee. These are special guests who don’t come here often, unlike the rotating talented musicians that play day after day, week after week here in this moonshine mecca. The group that’s scheduled to perform the next few months is quite a good list if you’re familiar with the bluegrass scene, so this should be a dazzling summer, indeed!
Throughout the years since the Ole Smoky Holler opened in 2010, there have been many bands who have gone on to major success in bluegrass circles. Monroeville is a local band, formed in nearby Newport, TN, which has a rocking vibe that expands the traditional bluegrass sound into something fresh and original. They don’t play at the Holler anymore, but they are regulars at Skyland Ranch in Sevierville. Seth Mulder & Midnight Run are on the rise and proud to say their roots are here in Gatlinburg. They are superb entertainers and songwriters, and they are currently on a major North American tour signed to Mountain Fever Records. The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys have enjoyed even more acclaim and success. They are the best band I’ve personally seen in the Ole Smoky Holler. Most of them call Tennessee home, and their Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album, Toil, Tears, and Trouble, should tell you all you need to know about their talent.
And now, here is the lineup for this summer, which I’m very excited to watch. These are all prime time performances expected to begin at 8 P.M.
Booked to appear are:
May 24 – Irene Kelley
May 31 – Woodbox Heroes
June 7 – Bluegrass Allstars (Dan Tyminski, Shawn Lane, Ron Stewart, Aaron Ramsey, Jeff Partin, Matt Flake)Â
June 8 – The Cleverlys
July 27 – David Parmley Band
August 9 – Appalachian Road Show
August 16 – Larry Stephenson BandÂ
Thank you for reading the latest news here in Gatlinburg. I hope you are being properly informed, and I’m humbled to be your reading source as part of your busy day. As always, be sure to stay tuned for all the latest events, news, and personal stories about my life here in this beautiful tourist town
You have to see the Cleverlys on 6/8! They’re so good and very creative. We saw them at the Grand Ole Opry last year and loved them!
