December was probably our most “challenging” month since we moved in August. Notice I put the quotations in challenging for a reason. We knew ahead of time that a trip home was in the plans, as well as Christmas shopping, and tolerating the upcoming Hell Week in Gatlinburg. I’ll tackle these subjects and a few more, as I take a deep dive into our fifth month of living in Gatlinburg.

Getting accustomed to apartment life in town hasn’t been as difficult as we may have thought. Sure, we had to rent a storage unit for our cherished possessions, because despite getting rid of what seemed like a small household full of items, we still had a tad too much. Thankfully, we were able to get a small one for seasonal and sentimental stuff just outside the Gatlinburg limits.

Working a full-time job in Gatlinburg is great, but it also allows me to explain to people why I can’t do everything I’d love to do every day—like driving into the mountains. I’m not using it as an excuse. I certainly could do it more, but other obligations come first.
