Happy Thanksgiving! T-H-A-N-K-F-U-L for Gatlinburg Foods and Drinks
There are many things we should be thankful for. Many of us take too many things for granted without enjoying the many positive moments of our lives we end up ignoring. I am sometimes guilty of this. Just putting it in writing gives me the necessary motivation to start correcting these flaws. I know I must continue to work toward doing things to ensure my family leads a happy and fulfilling life. I am also thankful that we have the ability and opportunity to be able to travel to The Smoky Mountains every year. It truly helps us express, recognize and appreciate our love for family. This brief posting will spotlight a sampling of the smorgasbord I am thankful for in beautiful Gatlinburg. And since we will be stuffing our faces with some good home cooking today, I feel it’s only appropriate. Why wait! Let’s eat!
T
Teriyaki steak at Cherokee Grill- Brown sugar, honey, and pineapple on a 10 oz. sirloin. Does it get much better? I don’t think so.
H
Helles Lager at Smoky Mountain Brewery- Plenty of good craft beers to be found here, and this one is my favorite.
A
(Baked) Apple Pancake at Atrium- This might be the best breakfast item on the menu at any restaurant in town. Don’t try to eat this whole “cake” without help. I don’t care how delicious it is. Take it from me—save the other half for later.
N
Nana’s Banana Pudding at Chocolate Monkey- My wife and son’s favorite ice cream in Gatlinburg. I admit it’s terrific, but I prefer the Peanut Butter Brownie.
K
Kilwin’s- This used to be our favorite fudge spot in town, but they have excellent sweet temptations all throughout the shop.
F
Fannie Farkle’s- A classic staple of Gatlinburg on the Parkway with some addicting games, fantastic corn dogs, and savory sausages with peppers and onions.
U
Ultimate Sandwich at Bennett’s Pit BBQ- I admit I’ve never had this before, but it sounds tasty, and it is a restaurant we’ve enjoyed on many of our visits.
L
Little House of Pancakes and Log Cabin Pancake House- The latter is my pick, and the former is my wife and son’s selection for sensational starters for a super sunny day in the mountains. But I’ll take either one and all of it!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
