It was another month full of firsts, fulfillment, and fervor. The most difficult aspect of living in Gatlinburg has been describing the lofty feelings, and that’s a mighty good problem to have. Nothing is ever perfect, as I discussed in my last post where I poured my emotions out to all of you—the good, the bad, the adversity that wasn’t going to diminish with a simple move to Gatlinburg. Nothing in life is ever that effortless. But here we are with my four month report on life in Gatlinburg.
Our fourth month started out with a long-awaited participation in the Gatlinburg Chili Cookoff and Winterfest Kickoff. After a belly-filling indulgence in some exceptional chili, it was an entrancing walk down the Parkway that made me forget about my gluttonous endeavor. A magical sight met my eyes, and it made me realize how long it had been since I’d seen Gatlinburg aglow in the Christmas spirit. The Space Needle was also a symbol of the importance of the night, with racing and blinking lights in seasonal colors to attract everyone’s attention. Needless to say, it was a happy walk home.
