Gatlinburg Gifts for Christmas
It’s the season for giving, and nothing is more reminiscent of childhood than the excitement and anticipation of Christmas. We are now in the midst of the holiday buying, and some of you will be spending a few days or a week in Gatlinburg during the month of December. I’m assuming there will also be some discretionary spending while you’re there. If you’ll be focused on doing a little Christmas shopping, maybe I can help you with a few ideas for gifts you can find while you’re in town.
Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen
There’s arguably no better place for stocking stuffers than Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen. You can walk inside and find boxed candies galore, in addition to fresh varieties of chocolates staring intently at you from inside the glass cases. Taffy, truffles, hard candies, chewy gooey chocolates, jellies, and stuff kids and adults alike will appreciate. A purchase here supports a long time local business that has served tourists and locals for countless decades. You simply can’t miss the mark with a treat from here.
Moonshine and Wine
Love them or hate them, you can wine and shine in numerous places in downtown Gatlinburg. If you’re not looking for a sample, you can still stop in and shop for a good variety of delicious flavored alcoholic drinks for any adult family member who likes the occasional beverage. Our favorite places for each are Sugarlands Distilling Company and Tennessee Homemade Wines, if you’d like a few hints. Various merchandise of good quality is also available in almost any shop or distillery that sells their spirits, so help a family member raise theirs!
Toy Crazy in The Village
Most of you who plan on doing some Christmas shopping in Gatlinburg will most likely be on the search for children’s toys. Well, The Village is not only a fantastic place to shop for someone of any age, it’s especially true for kids. Enter Toy Crazy. You’ll find classic toys for youngsters and toys maybe you used to ask your parents for. Of course you’ll likely find little shops that aren’t necessarily primed for kids when you’re walking the downtown Parkway, but still manage to stumble upon that ideal gift when you least expect it, so shop away!
Gift Cards
Yes, you can still give the gift of plastic while you’re in Gatlinburg. There are many fantastic restaurants in town that happily sell gift cards. Most ones that offer them are a part of a local group: Johnson Family of Restaurants (Bennett’s Pit BBQ, Alamo, Mama’s Chicken Kitchen and Copper Cellar (Smoky Mountain Brewery, Calhoun’s, Cherokee Grill) are two popular ones with great food that family member recipients will surely enjoy.
The Arts and Crafts Community
If you’re looking for something extra special when you’re visiting, a one-of-a-kind item from The Arts and Crafts Community is a sure winner. We have found many unique gifts for ourselves and others while shopping this spectacular craft loop. This area is chock full of artists who are extremely talented at their chosen craft. Potters, painters, sculptors, carvers, candle-makers, and photographers are just a few of the many professions that these people have perfected in living their life dream. It makes too much sense to explore this as a central hub for your family gift giving.
Hopefully I gave you a few good tips for your Christmas shopping in Gatlinburg. There’s no shortage of shops with plenty of gifts, whether you’re looking for something cheap or high-quality. Don’t be super selective. It can be hard to find the perfect gift. With my decision-making it’s tortuous, but I’d advise you not to overthink it. You’ll know you have something good when you find it!
