The Gatlinburg Farmers Market will begin on May 18th and will continue each Saturday until October 19th between the hours of 8:30 and noon. This will be its 15th season, and you can find tons of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other miscellaneous items across the road from Food City between the Post Office and American Legion building at 1222 East Parkway in Gatlinburg.
The weather will not impact them, unless there are warnings out for strong storms. Bathrooms will be open inside the American Legion building.
The Farmers Market is run by a team of volunteers that also sells shopping bags, mugs, and other items, so if you seek to attend on your Gatlinburg visit, do your part by supporting this not-for-profit part of the Gatlinburg Gateway Foundation—a local charity devoted to environmental causes—and the Gatlinburg Police Department.
If you’re wondering about the vendors at the Farmers Market, they are all required to be local—Sevier, Knox, Blount, and Cocke Counties—ensuring you are getting quality East Tennessee produce. They must be made, grown, and created by the vendors. If you will be looking to buy some of this fresh garden goodness, be sure to bring cash. Vendors will be accepting risk even if they bring their own electronic payment system. Wi-Fi is always a bit spotty in Gatlinburg, especially during busy times. If you know, you know.
Will you be interested in browsing and buying? I know I will if I have another Saturday off work. I would rather work this day, but if I’m not, I will definitely check out the local growers and their products! It’s always a good idea to support the little guy (and girl) here. We did it as tourists, and we’re even happier to do it as locals! I encourage you to do the same if you can, whether you’re here at the Gatlinburg Farmers Market, Arts and Crafts Community, or downtown Gatlinburg!
