Gatlinburg Community Center Pool Has Reopened Following Renovations

May 15th is opening day to celebrate the completion of the renovations of the Gatlinburg Community Center Pool. The pool will officially open to the public at 3 P.M. on Thursday.

The pool project began in February and included a complete pool resurfacing, an upgraded gutter system, and another resurfacing which involved the pool deck. More enhancements were made to the men’s and women's locker room showers. These were done in line with the other efforts to modernize the facility and improve comfort and effectiveness.

“The Recreation Department is excited to welcome back the community to a refreshed and improved aquatic environment that supports health, wellness, and recreation for all ages,” said Recreation Director, Laurence Evans.

The renovations in the pool area were just a part of the extensive project which also involved the completion of the Bowling Center, and the ongoing improvements with new equipment in the tone zone.

Gatlinburg City Manager, Greg Patterson, reiterated the importance of providing locals and visitors a quality place for recreation, saying, “These upgrades represent our commitment to providing top-tier recreational amenities… we look forward to seeing families, athletes, and community members once again enjoying the pool.”

The Community Center will commence its regular schedule and programming. The pool hours are as follows:

Monday - Friday: 6 A.M. until 7:30 P.M.

Saturday: 10 A.M. until 5:30 P.M.

Sunday: 1 P.M until 5:30 P.M.

I’m planning a visit to see these improvements in the near future. This is another place I’m ashamed to say I haven’t yet set foot inside. I want to take advantages of these amenities the community has provided for residents like myself. It’s about time for me to add this to the list! You should too!
