The McMahan Parking Garage, located next to light #3 in downtown Gatlinburg, will undergo a joint repair project beginning April 28. It is expected to take about three weeks to complete as long as Mother Nature cooperates.
In order to prevent too much interference with the public, the project will be done in two phases. During phase one—with this portion’s completion expected in 5-7 days—the top two levels of the garage will not be accessible to traffic.
In phase two, the second level of the garage will be the focus. All efforts will be made to ensure access to the upper levels, but there may be a one-day closure to seal the ramps. The City will provide the public with advance notice and post signs at the garage entrances to alert drivers.
With the expected—and typical—increase in tourism on the weekends, the garage will remain open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the entire project, so you have the weekdays—Monday through Thursday—for full access.
The City fully acknowledges this may cause a temporary inconvenience, and they will endeavor to limit interferences and notify the public during this necessary work. You can be sure I will also pass along this information if the repair work hits and snag or disrupts access to this high-demand garage.
On a personal note, I hope to still be able to climb the stairs to get some great views and pictures for you all to see during this three-week maintenance project. I am happy to share what I am lucky to see every day. It is a pleasure to have you as followers to my page and publication. Thank you, thank you! I am grateful for your kind words and support for what I do, and I hope you stay tuned for more wonderful Gatlinbutg content!
Always such good information
