It happened again. As luck would have it, all three of us had the day off from work. Whenever this happened in our pre-Tennessee days, we would probably only venture out for dinner. So yeah, it’s a little different living in a place where there’s so much to do, you find yourself planning a day of activities. In this case, we would spend a good portion of our day in Pigeon Forge. As tourists, we spent very little time in this ultra kid-friendly wonderland. As residents, we get to appreciate this town for what it is, despite what we used to—and maybe still do at times—think about Gatlinburg’s neighboring tourist town.
My wife did the bulk of the planning for what we would do on this day of expected fun in Pigeon Forge. We all agreed our best itinerary would be to visit the attractions furthest away first, ensuring there would be no back-tracking. If you’re thinking, That’s probably going to be an expensive day, I will remind you that I’m extremely fortunate to work at Anakeesta where they offer exchange passes for dozens of attractions that either offer you—the employee, plus family—free admission or reduced prices. That maximizes our desire to get out and enjoy things we never did, or would not normally do on our days off. Yep, it’s nice.
