Boudicca's Celtic Pub Seeking A Gatlinburger Week 3-Peat
Gatlinburg is known for their pancakes, but you wouldn’t have to list many more foods before mentioning burgers as a recommended option. I don’t know about you, but that’s my opinion. Gatlinburger Week is from September 15-21, and it is a fiercely competitive list of businesses vying for the trophy of best burger in Gatlinburg. There are many places in town who do the meat patty justice. My favorite in this tourist town to order one is looking to be crowned burger champion for the third year in a row, but I’m sure there’s a line of businesses looking to give them a run for their money.
I don’t have official word as of yet whether Boudicca’s Celtic Pub will be competing, but I can’t imagine a place I recommend to tourists at my job won’t put up another quality patty. Last year, they won me over with a burger I wouldn’t think to order: The Frickle and Cheese Burger, with fried pickle straws as one of the toppings. I don’t like pickles…at all. But I still found it the best of the bunch last year.
In 2022, Boudicca’s also won with their Bangers and Mash Burger—a 100% Angus Beef Patty with onions, mashed potatoes, sausage marinated in Guiness and Irish Cheese on a Potato Bun with a smattering of Kerrygold Butter. And even though I didn’t live here or visit at the time of the competition, this sounded like a winner.
It’s amazing to think this little pub hasn’t known losing since opening in late 2021. One thing they leveraged in last year’s competition was pricing. Last year, Gatlinburg allowed businesses to set their own prices for their limited-time, specialty burger. In 2022, all burgers were $9, but instead of raising the cost for customers—like every single other business did—they kept it the same. It was a move that paid off with their victory, but I still doubt they would’ve lost, because the burger was that good.
I plan to have a full list of the competitors in this year’s Gatlinburg Week competition real soon. I cannot wait to get a taste of Boudicca’s Celtic Pub’s new specialty burger, whatever it will be. I also am looking forward to seeing if anyone else can unseat the 2-time reigning champ. Don’t just take it from me. Boudicca’s is the highest rated eatery on Google compared to anything else in Gatlinburg—or maybe the entire Smoky Mountain tourist areas. Their portion sizes are generous, and they are served in to-go containers, whether you want to eat inside or outside in The Village—their location. Quality plus quantity equals victory in a quaint Irish pub with a great staff.
