I am kicking off my fall events posts not only because it’s the prettiest sight in the Smokies during this season, but also because I am looking forward to the cooler weather following a heated summer in Tennessee. Yes, Anakeesta is returning its successful Bear-Varian Fall Festival starting on September 13 all the way through the month of October. While the name suggests the beer will be flowing, (it will) but many other features will highlight the Gatlinburg mountaintop adventure park during the fall!
Guests to the most popular attraction in Gatlinburg will be treated with colorful fall decor, culinary delights the Deutsche would be proud of, live entertainment, and of course, beer. Just like last year, you can get yourself a beer-tasting card for $21.99. This includes your choice of six 8-ounce pours from the following local and regional breweries: Blackhorse Brewery, Highland Brewing, Peaceful Side Brewery, Tailgate Brewery, Gypsy Circus, and Iron Forge Brewing Company.
I don’t yet have a full food lineup, but once I do, be sure to follow my Facebook Page, Gatlinburg NOW for the deets! What I do know will be on tap are some phenomenal Bavarian-inspired eats which will include giant pretzels and German Chocolate Funnel Fries. How about that for a teaser!
The entertainment will have an added element of fun this year, as it will be the first year Stone Village will be a part of the fall festivities. This is one of my favorite areas of Anakeesta, featuring a mini amphitheater with benches to sit at for seeing, eating, and listening, among others.
I remember The Scarecrow Bros. and Witches 3 in full character mode entertaining us and our guests before and after their shows during my first fall last year working at the retail shop on the Parkway. They were excellent, and they’re returning again this year! Hopefully, the same actors will be here, but I’ll fill you in on that after the festival begins. Also returning, and not to be overshadowed, (if you will) is The Skele-Tones, performing all of your favorite, classic, haunting Halloween hits.

Bear-Varian Fall Festival at Anakeesta
I can’t think of a better way to spend a day of your vacation in Gatlinburg! Again, if you don’t get all of your drinking pass used up in one day, it’s good for any return trip to Anakeesta during this month-and-a-half celebration. Unless you already have an annual pass for the park, (which I recommend) you’ll have to pay for another day. Insider tip: the annual pass pays for itself in just 2 visits, so keep that in mind if you know you’ll be here more than 2 days a year, which I know many of you are!
If you’re a prime “leafer” to Gatlinburg in the fall, there simply is no better place to enjoy the overwhelming sights to behold, plus family-friendly entertainment and activities at Anakeesta. The mountains are simply, spectacularly stunning, and you have all the sights, sounds, and smells all around you for an unforgettable day during your visit. Needless to say, it’s something I highly suggest for your whole family! Enjoy!
Thank you for reading and subscribing to my publication! Be sure to stay tuned for all the other fall events set to dazzle your senses during the months of September and October! I will be sure to cover most, if not all of them here in Gatlinburg, and I can’t wait to share them with you!
We had a great time last year. Of course we got the beer card lol. Looking forward to going again. Thanks for sharing!
