It is not my plan to continue writing about these types of happenings in Gatlinburg, but I think it’s important to reassure visitors and dispel myths and rumors, so here we go…again.
A man was found underneath the Gatlinburg Skybridge Saturday night in what is being ruled as an apparent suicide. While there is nothing positive to be gained from a person ending his own life, visitors were spared the horror, since this happened late in the evening after the attraction had closed.
It’s unclear to me whether the attraction will undergo a full inspection following this unfortunate incident. Unlike the previous situation that happened at Anakeesta, this one is being investigated as a suicide with no witnesses being interviewed to share what they saw, given the fact there were no paying guests on the bridge.
No one, and I mean no one, wants to see these things happening in a beautiful place such as Gatlinburg. Once again, it appears not to be a case of any faulty equipment. The sad case of another life lost to suicide is a sobering reminder of the challenges many of us deal with. Another family has lost a loved one, and that should pull at the heart strings.
It’s important for anyone coping with suicidal thoughts and depression to seek out any and all forms of help. Society is taking the right steps in helping those suffering, and this should be heralded as a good thing in this world. Thankfully, there are easy ways to seek out help, and the National Suicide Prevention hotline offers a simple 988 phone call if you or anyone you know is having these thoughts. It is my hope I won’t have to write about another tragedy of any kind in Gatlinburg.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family 🙏
That is so sad. No one knows what goes on in a person's life or mind to think this is the only way. Pray for his family.
