One of Gatlinburg’s top attractions is ready to kick off their daily operational schedule for 2024. January and February are lean months for Anakeesta, as they are closed Monday through Thursday for maintenance and improvements to the mountaintop adventure park. They will begin daily operations on March 8th with extended hours that go beyond the 10-7 Friday, Saturday, Sunday hours in the winter. As with most every year since they opened back in 2017, there are exciting new happenings on the agenda with our favorite attraction. Here’s what to expect…
Not only will Anakeesta be open 7 days a week beginning March 8th, but starting the weekend prior, they will return to 9-9 hours, meaning much more time for exploring this wondrous adventure park and all it has to offer kids and adults. Purchase an admission price ticket, and you will be given a wristband that allows you all-day access for as many times as you want to go up. My recommendation? Go up early, spend a couple hours, then go later and watch a stunning Smoky Mountain sunset. No other attraction has the views that compare to Anakeesta’s, in my humble opinion.
The new Birdventure attraction has undergone some growing pains, but they’re hoping to have to this birdhouse adventure running smoothly soon. This is part of the new Stone Village area that recently expanded the attraction’s space on the mountain. Birdventure is an artistic marvel inside and out, featuring colorful and interactive displays, and a serpentine slide after your child is finished with this wide-eyed and educational encounter.
Also opening soon is the new Fur Trader retail shop, which will easily be the biggest retail space for souvenir shoppers in the park. Expect toys, Anakeesta merchandise, and a vast array of apparel for shoppers, male and female, young and old.
This whole Stone Village area is unique with continued mountain visuals that are omnipresent on the Anakeesta perch. Small food trucks, additional seating, and areas for relaxation only augments what you can find anywhere else at this theme/adventure park.
Last but not least is the most anticipated expansion in the Anakeesta notepad. Astra Lumina has been an out-of-this world success, and I can vouch for its appeal. Below is my review of our walk amongst the stars, if you’d like to read about our chapter.
Astra Lumina: Anakeesta's Dynamic Dusk Attraction
When Astra Lumina opened on Anakeesta mountain, it was unlike anything seen in the United States. There are only 15 such displays seen in the entire world. So what is it, you may wonder? Well, let me…
Astra Lumina is billed as an enchanted night walk—this only scratches the surface. Currently, the add-on attraction at Anakeesta has 8 chapters, or sections, of dazzling, spacey light displays. They will be adding four more this year, making it an even dozen. So instead of a 45 minutes to an hour experience, it will be prolonged into a solid hour minimum of incredible visuals that will be sure to leave a lasting effect. I know we were left with that impression after our walk last summer!
If you can make it here by March 1-3, ticket prices will be $34.99 for an adult, $27.99 for seniors, and $22.99 for children. When Anakeesta goes daily on March 8th, prices will tick up an extra $2 for each age group before they dip back down in April. Go check out their ticket prices throughout the year here and click on buy now. They can be subject to change, so be prepared, and check regularly.
