A special holiday marketplace and open house will be held at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in downtown Gatlinburg on December 7. Regional and local artists will be on site at the facility, located at 556 Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg, from 2-6 P.M. If you’re looking for a unique, handmade gift for that special someone during the holiday, this would be a great place to discover that treasured item. But that’s not all you can do here on this day. Details below.
Different artists and studios will be displaying their works of handmade art including, Dust to Dust Studio, Midnight Lighted Studio, Kelly Sullivan, Lynn Straka, Laura BeVille, and Celeste Rudd. There will also be Artists-in-Residence showing their skilled artwork for sale.
The shopping will be full of wonder, but they will also provide you with some refreshments (hot cocoa) and sweet treats to spark your day. Staff will also be sharing what Arrowmont has in store for what will prove to be an industrious 2025 as well.
They have also banded together to host a special Hurricane Relief Art Raffle, in which all the money raised will go toward artists in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina who have been affected by the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
But maybe the coolest thing about this day is they have different workshops you can participate in, beginning at 9 in the morning, and lasting until the 2 P.M. kickoff of the art sale. These are all very reasonably priced and can give you the benefit of learning a new skill while making a day of it here at Arrowmont.
There are 5 classes available on the morning of December 7 that might tickle your fancy. And the best part? You can even get the kids involved. I am going to list all the activities with the link below, so you can get all the information about each workshop.
Instructor: Kelly Sullivan
Instructor: Kelly BeVille
Instructor: Geri Forkner
Festive Little Christmas Trees
Instructor: Heather Ashworth
Metal Stamped Gifts & Ornaments
Instructor: Lynn Straka
**One additional note about these five-hour workshops: lunch will absolutely be provided, if you were wondering. And in the registration form will be dietary restrictions, so they can cater to your needs in that department.
Does this sound like a one-of-a-kind way to spend a day in Gatlinburg? I certainly think so; in fact, I may decide to get involved with this if time permits. Get your creative juices flowing, and also, you can feel good knowing you are not only looking at fabulous artwork you can buy, but helping those in need as well. What do you say we plan a different kind of day full of learning and discovery!
