A Day in the Gatlinburg Life: Trails and Trials on April 15th
I didn’t originally have Monday, April 15th off—the topical day of this article—but after switching with a coworker to help with our scheduled shipment day on Tuesday morning, I wanted to take full advantage. And why not. It was going to be a beautiful, if not quite warm, day to do some exploring. Ah yes, exploring. That means nixing any thoughts of driving to the concrete playground in Pigeon Forge, which included any unneeded grocery shopping being considered at the local Food City in Gatlinburg. Yes, I like to grocery shop, and when it’s my day off, it’s always being debated, whether I need food or not. My only anxiety about going to the grocery store is how much I spend, which explains my frequent trips, but I digress.
I felt like I needed to take a hike. That was my feeling the night before and continued throughout the malaise of Monday morning. My options weren’t numerous, but I was having a difficult decision between the Greenbrier section of the national park, or the multitude of trails accessed within 15 minutes of Sugarlands Visitor Center off Newfound Gap and Little River Road. Since the day was already getting away from me, I had to choose…quickly.
