This was a planned event. For about 2 months, this was posted on the calendar as a festival I wanted to attend. If you’ve gathered anything from me as a subscriber, it shouldn’t surprise you how much time I spend in Gatlinburg and not allowing myself a chance to “spread my wings,” doing things I thought would be much easier for me.

I had this thinking while we still lived in Ohio. Living here means I’m not going to hesitate to show up at all the events I had my eye on. I soon realized this wasn’t exactly going to go as I envisioned. With that being said, the Chili Cookoff in November has been everything I had hoped it would be. That is one gathering I will one-hundred percent attend for as long as… A., I can eat chili. And, B., we still live here. I don’t want to get carried away. We absolutely love it here, but you have to live in the moment, not the future. And I refuse to take any of this enjoyment for granted.

May 10, 2025 came and went, much to the delight of my son and I. In case you’re wondering, this was the day of the 6th Annual Bruce Street Brewfest. Tons of local brewers—some without even a brick and mortar establishment—gathered down the revitalized (so I have been told) Bruce Street in beautiful downtown Sevierville. Here’s how it went down…
